Lyrics.

Now we begin to create our music video.

We have a list of generic features of music videos we have individually analysed, to help us create our video. But first we shall individually create a treatment for our own ideas for the video.

I started by analysing the lyrics of the song we are using.

These are the lyrics:

From the lyrics I noticed that they are about a girl/ lover. This is what i have translated the lyrics as.

A boy wanting to tell the girl he likes something but he cant quite do it. Maybe not even due to his lack in confidence. He may be able to but he has realised that the girl doesn't want him back.

From my summary I can now create my own plan for the video.

I will now create my own treatment that i would pitch to a director for YouMeAtSix- If I Were In Your Shoes, now know as MeYou&Her- Walk You Off.

Outline of Idea:
Hybrid Music video; with narrative and concept visuals being used. About 8 different locations. All very different. All frames linking in with the shoes shown in other frames. A young persons shoes then the point of view shot of them in there life, then cut to a house wife’s shoes and then her point of view on her life ect. Ect.
There is also a performance at the end where the first person walks to the front of the concert and watches the band perform.

Intertextual References
In a way the constant use of point of view may remind viewers of a video game. Like a 3rd person type game.
Also the performance at the end will remind us of watching a concert live or even on TV.

Locations.
Locations are accessible, yet permission would be needed for the house and town locations due to their private/public nature.

Key Shots:

Establishing, Pan of person’s surroundings.
Zoom in on one pair of shoes and zoom out to reveal a different pair. (Different Person)
High angle of peoples in there surroundings.
Point Of View shots all the way through.
Long shot on the band at the concert.

Justification of Idea:
This is a hybrid of narrative and performance, many songs of this genre use visuals to narrate the lyrics and I am doing so here. There is a performance too, which is typical of this genre's music videos.
