Further Director Info.

I will research further in to the styles of 2 of the video directors I found.

Hype Williams…

American music video director, born in Queens, New York, 1970. He grew up wanting to be a painter.
Williams started out tagging billboards using Hype as his tag. He has shot over 200 videos with many of the worlds biggest international stars. His first video was a gritty but stylish video for Wu Tang- Can It Be All So Simple, in 1994. Well known for his use of colours, he is often working only in the hip-hop industry.
Hype has won many awards, such as best director or the year, and best video of the year.
A signature style used by Williams throughout the vast majority of his videos in the 1990s and early 2000s was the Fisheye lens which distorted the camera view around the central focus.

Another "signature style", involves placing shots in regular widescreen ratio, while a second shot is split and placed in the upper and lower bars. Videos that use this style include "Diamonds on my Neck" by Smitty, "I Ain't Heard of That" by Slim Thug, "So Sick" by Ne-Yo, "In My Hood" by Young Jeezy, "Check On It" by Beyoncé, "Snap Yo Fingers" by Lil Jon and many others.

Finally, since 2003, Williams has adopted a signature style which combines a center camera focus on the artist or actor's body from the torso upward and a solid color background with a soft different-color light being shown in the center of the background, so as to give a sense of illumination of the background by the foreground subject.

This director i chose as he is known for directing videos of a different genre to the one i am doing. this will help me see if a contrast in styles depending on genre, if any.

This is my final director that i shall research further.

Shane Davey...

Shane Davey is part of the London based production company, Davey Inc.

Davey inc. was formed in 2005 by Gail Davey and Shane Davey and nominated for a National Business Award in its first year. Shane likes shooting musicians, them selves. They bring out the best of him and he brings out the best of them. That's how it works and that's why they keep coming back. Shane also likes telling stories in pictures and a mix of both is what he loves most and finds most fun to do.

Shane has worked on many videos from, Marvell, Enter Shikari, Medina Lake and You Me At Six. Shanes style of video is one showing Epic Performances or a video with an Abstract Narrative.

His performance videos have lots of group shots to show the band performing in varied locations that relate to the song of genre of music the band specializes in.

I will take in to account all the styles of the directors I have researched.
